A heartiest welcome to all my gorgeous, gorgeous clients to this dance jungle! Semi-classical dance brings the beautiful forms and styles of classical dance together with modern styles.
I am Pooja Dedhia, your dance instructor for the coming days. I feel incredibly honored that you chose to visit my class, and I am looking forward to sharing my skills with all of you. I dearly hope that you are excited as well!
Let me tell you the importance of this performance art and why dance should be a part of your routine. Dance helps you to be in tune with your emotions and use your natural energy to revitalize your body.
Dancing can be a way to stay fit for people of all ages, shapes, and sizes. It improves your motor skills, tones your muscles, increases strength, endurance, and fitness. It is also a great way to meet new friends!
The choreography of ‘Saude Bazi’ is a graceful mixture of two of my favorite dance forms, Tutting and Semiclassical, and it will be taught to you with a step-by-step guide for your proper practice. You will learn the Tutting dance style in the first half of the routine and Semiclassical in the other half. Tutting is a Hip hop dance style that emphasizes the body's ability to create geometric shapes and straight lines and involves angular movements of the hands and fingers.
Many interesting concepts help make your Tutting more intricate and creative. One of the things that makes Tutting unique is that some dances can't use their fingers to express themselves. The box concept is often used to create box shapes with the arms, hands, fingers, etc. Tutting also uses Popping concepts to link and animate the various shapes being made.
In contrast, Semiclassical is an art form that features extensive movements of your body while maintaining grace along with expressions and posture. This dance has its origins in Indian classical and folk dance, which, when put together, is called Semi-Classical dance form.
Its dance steps and moves are not as complex or intricate as pure classical forms. However, the authenticity of the Indian dance form is preserved, and students can grasp these lighter semi-classical dances easily. Semi-classical dances are fun and fluid. You will be exhilarated to learn the combination of both in just one dance.
What to wear while learning this routine?
This dance practice requires a wide range of motion and movements. Therefore, wear clothes that won't restrict your body. For example, loose tops, pants, or shorts breezy enough to sweat in will work best. You can dance bare feet to feel fully connected to the floor, but wear socks if you intend to dance on rougher carpeted surfaces.
How to prep your dance space?
Ensure there is enough space to practice in and get rid of any sharp edges lurking nearby. This will allow you to jump, turn, and move without any worries of bumping your shin on that pesky coffee table or tripping over an awkward rug.
Tip: Please keep drinking water between the classes to stay hydrated. Ensure you have water access near you while you practice, so you don't have to take unnecessary breaks between the classes. Also, make sure to consume only one or two sips at a time to avoid stomach aches because we need to jump, rotate and exercise.
Does all that sound good to you? If yes, start learning this thrilling cocktail of Semiclassical and Tutting at home with me right now! Do check out the promo video to watch the entire choreography. In this tutorial, all the steps are taught step by step with good detailing for your proper practice. You will learn some simple yet beautiful Semiclassical and tutting moves in very little time.

What is Tutting?
The Tutting style is one of the funk styles/street dance types associated with Hip Hop, at least originally considered an offspring of Popping.
Tutting is a style of dance that uses the body and limbs, hands, fingers, etc, in order to form shapes and angles (typically 90-degree angles). It is thought to be derived from Egyptian hieroglyphs and depictions of King Tut the pharaoh.
Tutting first emerged in the USA during the mid-1970s to early 1980s when poppers struck Tutting poses or made Tutting shapes and angles while Popping.
This style was pioneered by Mark Benson aka King Boogaloo Tut. He was inspired by Boogaloo Sam (founder of the Electric Boogaloos) dancing in MacArthur Park in Long Beach, California.
What Is Semi-classical Dance?
Semi-Classical dance is a fusion of Indian classical and folk dances.
Unlike pure classical forms, semi-classical dance steps and moves are not as complex and intricate. Although the authenticity of the Indian dance form is preserved, students are able to learn these semi-classical dances easily. It's fun and easy to learn semi-classical dances.
Contemporary dance breaks away from the stylized structures of classical dance and adopts a more modern style. The basic principles of dance are preserved, however.
