Formulas in Excel

A formula must begin with an equal sign (=) in the cell where the result should appear.
1) Addition: Use the plus sign (+) to add two or more values: Ex: =C5+D3.
2) The - sign is used to subtract values from two or more cells: =C5-D3 is an example.
3) To multiply two or more values, use the * sign. For instance: C5*D3.
4) A "/" sign divides the values of two or more cells. A good example is: =C5/D3.
Combining all of these, you can create a formula that adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides all in one cell. A good example is (C5-D3)/((A5+B6)*3).
If you have a complex formula, you will need to use parentheses around the expressions to avoid accidentally using the PEMDAS order of operation. Plain numbers are also acceptable in your formulas.
