Candidates are required to demonstrate proficiency in understanding various aspects of alternative investments, including their characteristics, regulatory framework, risk factors, and suitability for investors. The exam assesses both theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring that certified distributors can effectively advise clients and promote alternative investment products in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Examination Objectives :

On successful completion of the examination the candidate should:

o Know the basics of alternative asset class and the Alternative Investment Funds (Category I and II) markets in India.
o Understand the following in detail:
o General concepts prevalent in the AIF industry.
o Structure, risk-return relationship, investment process, governance aspects, monitoring and exit strategies of AIFs.
o Importance of fund due diligence, legal documentations and negotiation skills along with the assessment of risk & return by the investors.
o Valuation process and methodologies followed by the AIFs for its investee companies.
o Various taxation aspects for the fund and its investors.
o Role and conduct of distributors in servicing the investors.
o Know the regulatory environment in which the AIFs (Category I and II) operate in India.
